Ubuntu and Debian are closely related.

Ubuntu is based on the fundamentals of architecture and infrastructure of Debian, but has a different community andrelease process.
 
About Debian

Debian is "the rock upon which Ubuntu is based.
Debian is a volunteer project working on developing an operating system GNU / Linux. The Debian Project began a decade agoand has since grown to include over 1000 members, provided an officer of the developers, and many other volunteers and staff. It has expanded to include more than 20,000 "packages" of free and open source and documentation.
 
About Ubuntu

Ubuntu offers a Debian-based desktop interface with regular and frequent releases consistent. It is supported by Canonicalcommercial services and support for desktops and servers.Media criticism and corrections of errors are not more than six months after the last version of everything in the world of open source.
