History of Evanescence
Evanescence is a rock band from Little Rock, Arkansas, USA. His music is described as dark and tragic epic.
Amy Evanescence was founded by singer, pianist and composer Lee and former guitarist and songwriter Ben Moody. The two met at a youth camp in Arkansas, where Moody heard Lee playing "I'll do anything for love (but do not want to)" by Meat Loaf on the piano.
The pair discovered they shared a love for Jimi Hendrix and Björk, and began writing songs together (the first was "Solitude" by Amy Lee, followed by "Understanding" by Ben Moody, "give me" by Amy Lee and "My Immortal" by Ben Moody). The songs were altered lyrically and musically by Ashley Hinche, which is why you have the names of two of them in the credits for writing.
For some time they managed to find other musicians to play, and have no funds to pay for professional help, so have not been able to do live concerts. However, two songs from them, "Understanding" and "give me", which finds its way onto local music charts, and an increase in demand for a live show. When the group finally made its appearance, has become one of the most popular acts in the region. I went through several names, including the intentions and Childish hit, before deciding on the name Evanescence (ie, which fade or dissipate like vapor). Amy says she likes the name because it is mysterious and dark, and put a picture in your mind, which is what I wanted.
The first workHis first full-length demo CD, Origin (released in 2000), is relatively unknown. The group also released two EPs, which are highly prized by collectors for their rarity: Evanescence self-titled EP (1998) of which about 100 copies were made, and fast asleep PE, also known as the whisper of the European Parliament (1999), limited to 50 copies.
Not atypical, Origin and EPS contain demo versions of some songs on their debut album Fallen. In fact, the recording of "My Immortal" of the Fallen are also the cause, but a handful of fellow string. However, Lee did not consider recording an album as such, but feels just a collection of demo songs (some of which he says is not done properly) that was sent to record companies. Only 2500 copies of this record was ever made, which limits their availability for the lucky few to have one of the first year, or for those who are willing to pay hundreds of dollars today to find records . In response, Lee encouraged fans to download old band's songs over the Internet in an interview.
Not surprisingly, enterprising bootleggers have been selling fake copies of Origin, usually as a "Russian re-issue" at high prices. It is highly recommended that fans not at home may return money , is probably not an original copy or benefit from a longer range.
FallenHis first major album Fallen has been certified 6x Platinum, spent 43 weeks in the top 10 of Billboard and sold over 12 million copies worldwide. In April 2005, Fallen is one of five albums in the history of the card to spend a full year (52 weeks) on the Billboard Top 50 (Spice of the Spice Girls, E. 1999 Eternal Bone Thugs N Harmony, .. . Baby One More Time Britney Spears and Kelly Clarkson Breakaway from the other).
Major label debut of Evanescence single "Bring Me to Life" was a worldwide success of the band and reached # 5 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, while the equally popular "My Immortal" peaked at No. 7 US Its inclusion in the soundtrack of the action film Daredevil helped propel both the popularity Evanescence great songs and firmly rooted in the music scene. "Bring Me to Life" has been recognized by the band at the Grammy Awards 2004, wheregroup received the award for Best Hard Rock Performance. At the same time, Evanescence was awarded the Best New Artist.
The other two individuals have fallen "Going Under" and "Fool for all", which include a music video.
The new song Breathe No More was introduced in 2005, the Elektra soundtrack.
Anywhere But HomeLaunched in 2004, the new line of Evanescence released a compilation CD / DVD entitled "Anywhere But Home." The DVD is the show-of-Paris a few behind the scenes features, including photos of the band backstage, signing autographs, and warming. The enclosed CD contains a song entitled "Missing", which was unprecedented. Also on the CD are the songs "Breathe No More" (from the Elektra movie soundtrack) and "plus". It also included his version of the "irresponsible" of Korn, who starred in several shows.
The Open DoorEvanescence is currently working on her second album, The Open Door, the first of October 3, 2006 (see press release).
The album includes 13 songs, including the first single "Call Me When you're sober," and "the second single Good Enough. "Lee said" Good Enough "is unlike any other ballad that he wrote before his background is happier. Another song on the album is entitled" The Weight of the World. "
The album progressed slowly for a number of reasons, but perhaps mainly because of the desire to Amy Lee to allow the creative process to take its full course and not rush to production. Besides that, other distractions have included other band members side projects, health problems, guitarist Terry Balsamo and the controversy surrounding the dismissal of his former manager.Evboard Lee said that Evanescence's new album is wrapped in March 2006.The release was made in October, probably because "[current label tape] Wind-Up wants to make some changes in the upcoming single" Call Me When you're sober "
Evanescence site was updated after a long period of stagnation to reflect the press release above.
Amy Lee has confirmed that she wrote a song for the 2005 film The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe released by Disney, but was rejected by the producers because it is "too dark and epic. " However, Amy Lee said it was just an ideal material for the next album The Open Door
ComparisonsThe group is often compared to nu-metal bands like Linkin Park, POD, Papa Roach, but many fans find this comparison inaccurate because it relies solely on "Bring Me to Life", which included singer Paul McCoy 12 Stones style of rap-game counterparts in a short piece of music. It is not a reflection of most of his other music, both on Fallen and in his earlier work. Evanescence has been compared to bands like winter , Lacuna Coil, Nightwish and Within Temptation, with female vocals and dark lyrical themes, but these bands are considered symphonic metal / gothic metal and rock.
During performances, Evanescence performs often cover contemporary groups like A Perfect Circle, The Offspring, Garbage, Korn and Metallica. They were also protected material defunct alternative rock band that Soundgarden, Nirvana and Smashing Pumpkins.
